openBIS is a powerful data management solution for research data that includes an Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). openBIS has been developed by Scientific IT Services at ETH Zürich and is currently used by several groups at ETH Zürich and beyond.
The openRDM.swiss project is funded by Swissuniversities and aims to establish a Swiss national service for research data management based on the openBIS platform.
The service is available either as a cloud-hosted version on the SWITCHengines infrastructure or as a self-hosted version using the infrastructure available locally at the institution. Training activities will be offered so that researchers can successfully adopt the new service in their laboratories. Finally, the project also aims to extend the openBIS platform to improve interoperability with other data services, especially national and international research data repositories.
The service offered via the openRDM.swiss project is aimed at research groups working in quantitative science domains at all Swiss Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences. From 2019 onwards, we aim to make the service available via the new SWITCHhub. In the meantime, interested researchers are encouraged to contact ETH Scientific IT Services directly for an initial consultation (e-mail to email@example.com).
